Working with Real Estate Agents to help you on your home search can be an extremely helpful and enjoyable experience. However, choosing the wrong agent can lead to a bunch of issues that no one wants to deal with. Here are two of the biggest red flags when it comes to working with Real Estate Agents.
- Your Agent Should NOT be extremely unresponsive. Your agent is not obligated to answer every call or text as soon as you reach out…because let’s be real- they have other clients and a life! But if your agent is taking daysssss to respond back to you…that’s a problem. In a competitive real estate market, time is of the essence. It’s important to talk to your agent and set expectations from the start. Ask them what hours they are available for property showings and what are the best times to reach them via phone. You can also ask which is preferable- email, text or phone calls.
- Your Agent Should NOT pressure you to do something you’re uncomfortable with. If you find yourself working with an agent that you feel does not have your best interests in mind or an agent that is extremely difficult to work with, don’t be afraid to find another agent. If you signed an exclusivity agreement with that agent you will need to either mutually void that contract or wait until the agreement expires before finding a new agent.
Your real estate agent is one of your biggest advocates on your home buying journey. Finding the right one is essential. If you’re ready to connect with an agent, I’d be happy to introduce you to one of the agents on my preferred list! Just let me know here.
